Portal video player
This is the current video player I am planning to have on portal
http://www.mediafire.com/?4ql8vl4e1r7o3d4 [ extract and run index.html file ]
Current Issues
- I have used this before on http://lkagaming.com/gaming.html. That currently has a youtube link but I cant get youtube links working now for some weird unknown reason. So video files have to be hosted somewhere if we get this online in its current state.
- I am using an old version of the script and player as the latest update only shows a black screen.. if you have been paying attention to the homepage. Cannot resolve that for now but old version works ok so
If we get this current one on-line any video updates on the player, will need to have the mp4 (seems to accept mp4 files - tried wmv files from youtube channel and they didnt work ) files somewhere on-line ( no you-tube ), which isn't that much of an issue.. but its more hassle than juss pasting a you-tube link. So anyone rendering will have to render their videos in mp4 if they want em on homepage . I will try and find a fix for that later on.
Another thing is the resolution for the video files to appear properly and not have lines to the side or top ( Video A fits perfectly but others dont ).. it has to appear perfectly on youtube as a guide with the following OR matching resolutions to these
1920 * 1080
1280 * 720
640 * 480 (360??) correct me here
tell me what you think of the player and if you think a better skin can be used. You can browse here to see which one would look cool
http://www.longtailvideo.com/addons/skins
to test a new theme, juss download it and stick the zip file here, where you see the current modieus theme being used
then juss insert the name of the new theme.zip or whatever is format it downloaded.. in the code ( there isnt much code in the page, you will find it easy)

Can we definitely not use YouTube videos? Getting more views with the video on the homepage would be a good thing, it would be strange having it from a file?
What we not be better just embedding a YouTube video down there?

Re: Portal video player
thats what I am trying to fix at the moment.. to use youtube link instead of a file. Its easier to manage and yeah would get more views. Its working on my old sites but not on this one.. I juss cant understand whats going on.. will have a look when I am less tired from work.
Embedding a youtube video directly.. doesnt look pretty.. juss wanted to option to be able to scroll through more than one video when on the homepage... thus having a playlist on custom player.

Nice one! I'll check it out when I get on PC later. The little box you've made is looking good so far aswell. It's nice to see everything fitting together nicely.
LG has all the details of the bottom bar now, we've agreed a price and everything aswell so he's going to sign up later and start that.

Nah it's fine, thanks though. LG's prices always seem to be fair anyway. It isn't much.
Re: Portal video player
The portal video player does look really cool I must admit! The video took like 20-30 secs to start playing for me though.
Re: Portal video player
takes less than a second for me
